Appartenant aux « Grands Sites », ces paysages emblématiques et lieux d’exception reconnus au niveau national, la dune du Pilat est répertoriée parmi les plus fréquentés avec près de 2 millions de visiteurs estimés chaque année. Cette fréquentation soumet les milieux naturels à proximité à de fortes pressions.
En respectant la réglementation et en adoptant quelques réflexes simples, chacun d’entre nous peut contribuer au respect de la biodiversité, tout en profitant d’un cadre naturel exceptionnel. L’ensemble des arrêtés municipaux et préfectoraux en vigueur sont listés ci-dessous.
Respect the regulations in protected environments
For your safety and respect for the Grand Site,
- Do not leave your waste in nature
- Respectez la biodiversité : pas de dérangement d’espèces, pas de cueillette de végétaux et pas de prélèvement (végétaux, sable, reliques…)
- Observe the authorized overflight zones: regulated free flight practice
- Keep your dog on a leash
- Bivouacs and wild camping prohibited
- Motorized vehicles prohibited
- Board sports prohibited
- Interdit de fumer
- No fires, regardless of the location
Le stationnement sauvage est interdit
To avoid impacting species and their habitats, but also to guarantee everyone's safety, do not park your vehicle along the road.
Protect forests from fires
The Landes de Gascogne massif is classified as a high risk forest fire. The risk of forest fires is permanent and increases with the reckless behavior of visitors.
94% forest fires are of human origin. For your safety and to limit the risk of starting fires, everyone must be vigilant and adopt the right actions.

The practice of free flight
Suite à l’incendie, la pratique du vol libre sur l’ensemble du Grand Site de la Dune du Pilat est suspendue.
The use of drones
In order to ensure the safety of all visitors, the use of drones within the framework of a leisure use is strictly prohibited on the Grand Site of the Dune of Pilat.
Professional drones require prior authorization.
