The Gironde is placed in RED alert for forest fires<\/strong> until Monday, August 18 inclusive (subject to change). This vigilance is increased to the level very high<\/strong> (red\/level 4 on a scale of 5).<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A collective responsibility, more relevant than ever<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This decision follows extreme weather conditions and imposes, for the entire department \u2013 and more particularly in sensitive areas such as the Dune du Pilat \u2013 strict restrictions <\/strong>in the practice of all outdoor activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three years after the 2022 fires, the indelible scars<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Summer 2022 has left its mark indelible traces on the forest massif of La Teste-de-Buch and the Dune of Pilat<\/strong>In July 2022, more than 7,000 hectares of forest went up in smoke around the dune, a natural symbol of the Arcachon Basin. At the height of the crisis, a disrupted biodiversity and a landscape marked by the scars of the blaze<\/strong>Today, if nature tries to reclaim its rights, the wounds remain visible from the crest of Dune.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

These painful memories must raise awareness among each visitor of the fragility of this exceptional site<\/strong> and the importance of collective efforts to preserve it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Restrictions in effect during red alert<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Faced with this accumulated risk, several measures apply from August 8 until August 13 at midnight (which may be extended depending on the situation):<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Absolute prohibition of all fires, including barbecues<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

No smoking, throwing cigarette butts or any incandescent debris<\/strong> in or near the forest <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regulated access along forest trails: <\/strong>Some areas may be closed or subject to restricted hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prohibition on the use of thermal tools <\/strong>(brush cutters, grinders, etc.), burning green waste or flying lanterns\/fireworks near forest areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Obligation for everyone to report any outbreak of fire<\/strong> At 18<\/strong> or to 112<\/strong> without delay.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
