On Friday June 30, the inauguration of the reception area of the Dune du Pilat, an emblematic site of our territory, took place by Nathalie Le Yondre, President of the Mixed Management Union, in the presence of State services and the Conservatory. from the coast, elected officials, partners of the Grand Site, project managers, companies... Everyone came in large numbers to celebrate this important moment which illustrates our action guided by the Grand Site de France approach.
Developments driven by the search for a balance between improving the conditions for welcoming visitors and discovering the site as well as preserving this fragile natural space.
Some key figures: 2 years of work delayed by the pandemic and interrupted by the fires which hit the Gironde in 2022 / 3 major operations / 3 project managers on a site open to visitors despite the work / 24 companies on the site...

Preserve and welcome
The Region, the Department and the Municipality have joined forces to form a public establishment, the Syndicat Mixte de la Grande Dune du Pilat.
His role ? The Public Management of the lands of the Grand Site, in particular those entrusted by the Conservatoire du littoral. Alongside its partners, the Syndicat Mixte works on a daily basis to preserve these fragile environments, ensure their valuation and their visit in the best possible conditions.
The Syndicat Mixte is administered by a Syndicate Committee made up two representatives from each community. Since 2016, the regional councilor, Nathalie Le Yondre, has been the President of the establishment.

- Patrick Davet and Eric Bernard, Mayor and municipal councilor
Public action is guided by the national policy of the Great Sites of France, initiated by the State, addressing, like the Dune du Pilat, exceptional landscapes of our heritage.
How to find the balance between protecting remarkable landscapes, welcoming a large number of visitors and local development?
These issues are at the heart of the public action carried out on the territory of the Grand Site of the Dune du Pilat for more than 15 years.
