Nathalie Le Yondre, President of the Syndicat Mixte de la Grande Dune du Pilat, and Karine Desmoulin, President of the Department's Tourism Development Agency (Gironde Tourisme), have signed a partnership to promote sustainable tourism in the Grand Site.
Gironde Tourisme and Syndicat Mixte have been collaborating for several years to strengthen links and exchanges between the Dune and the Gironde territories. On Friday March 29, the two organizations established a strengthened collaboration which is structured around several objectives:
- Make the Grand Site de France labeling process known (www.grandsitedefrance.com/demarche). Promote the Grand Site as a fragile and protected natural space.
- Give meaning to the visit to the site focused on the identity and heritage characteristics of the place (more sustainable tourism). A natural space in its own right, at the heart of a living and inhabited territory.
- Encourage the spread of visits outside peak periods
- Widely disseminate information on the mediation tools offered for families and young people
- A reception for filming in line with the values and regulations of the Grand Site
- Highlighting Girondin territories: allowing Gironde territories to come to the Dune site to promote the discovery of natural spaces open to the public (highlighting the territory's ecotourism offer)
- Develop actions and communicate on alternatives to the car (soft mobility): cycling strongly encouraged, solutions for accessing the Dune by public transport (buses, shuttles, etc.). The development of the reception area takes into account numerous adaptations and services for cyclists currently being deployed: new cycle path set up on the northern edge of the reception area, better visibility of existing paths, increased number of dedicated furniture .
- The Dune reception area, located on the Vélodyssée route, is labeled @Home Cycling
Obtaining the label Tourism and Disability, made possible thanks to the new developments, is an example of this common desire.
