The Dune and the adjoining forest are protected areas, classified at the national level. The beauty of the landscapes of the Grand Site attracts 2 million visitors every year.
The reception area of the Dune du Pilat, tourist facility and main gateway used by 2/3 of visitors, is currently undergoing a facelift. The work for the overall requalification of the reception area began in the fall of 2021 and will end for the high season of 2023. Throughout the duration of the work, a so-called "ephemeral" village is installed to ensure the continuity of public service. .
In this context, the Syndicat Mixte's mission is to inform the public about the conditions of access, visit and compliance with the regulations in force to understand this wild natural space.
