Accessibility for all - Dune of Pilat

Motor disability

As the Dune is a natural space, there are natural and technical constraints (walking in the sand, steep slope, etc.) which prevent the implementation of means allowing access to the summit for people with reduced mobility (PRM).

However, the entire reception area (cabins, toilets, restaurants and cultural shops) is accessible to people with reduced mobilityWheelchairs and strollers can access the exhibition, information and discovery cabins. In addition, at the entrance to the site, parking spaces are reserved for people holding the mobility inclusion parking card.

Depending on the nature of the disability, getting to the foot of the Dune may prove difficult (150 meters in the sand in the undergrowth). The ascent of the Dune is facilitated by a staircase (approximately 140 steps) installed between April and November.

Another way to get to the foot of the Dune, ocean side: by the stairs (around a hundred steps) located at the Corniche in Pyla-sur-Mer.

There are also places with viewpoint on the Dune accessible to people with reduced mobility, such as the Daniel Meller beach promenade (Pyla-sur-Mer) or the Moulleau jetty (Arcachon). You will find all this information at the information point team.
