Much more than a large pile of sand, the Dune of Pilat is a natural wonder! It offers a spectacular view of the mouth of the Arcachon Bay, the Banc d'Arguin National Nature Reserve, and the forest. The impacts of the summer 2022 fire are clearly visible from the crest of the dune.
To better understand the riches of this changing heritage, the team at the Grand Site de la Dune du Pilat offers educational activities in the reception area within the discovery cabin and nature activities on the Dune!
From Saturday, February 22nd to Sunday, March 9th, the mediators welcome you to the mediation cabin! They are ready to answer any scientific questions about the Dune, the ecosystem it shelters, the adjoining forest… You will also find awareness tools to better understand the site.
The cabin will be exceptionally closed on Thursday, February 27th morning.

"Come and discover the fascinating secrets of the strandline. Accompanied by a Pilat dune ranger and an agent from the Arcachon Bay marine natural park, you will explore the ecological issues linked to this fragile ecosystem, while learning about the waste management protocols put in place to preserve our coasts. An outing combining awareness, discovery, and concrete actions."
Meet at 1:45 p.m. at the top of the Corniche stairs (location communicated by email to participants upon registration confirmation). Maximum 15 participants / minimum 5 participants. Minimum age 10 years.
