The staircase facilitating the ascent of the Grand Site of the Dune of Pilat is in place! This year, it has 130 steps. This faithful ally for difficult climbs will be installed until the end of the All Saints' Day holidays, when it will be dismantled.
To prevent it from becoming completely silted up, the staircase is removed in winter. Indeed, we quickly forget that the highest dune in Europe is mobile and moves inland every year, mainly as a result of storms and strong winds that carry sand.
Climbing the dune by the stairs is not mandatory! This equipment makes it easier to climb and allows better access to its summit.
The Grand Site de la Dune du Pilat is a fragile natural area, please ensure you respect the regulations and bring back your waste (picnic, paper, etc.).
