August activities: experience the Dune du Pilat in a different way and embark on a kayak trip to the Banc d'Arguin!

Summer is in full swing at the Dune du Pilat! This August, our outreach teams have put together a program full of discoveries and wonder for the whole family. Whether you're a fan of the first light of dawn, passionate about biodiversity, or curious to understand the secrets of Europe's tallest dune, there's sure to be an activity for you.

🌊 FEATURED: The exceptional kayak trip to the Banc d'Arguin Nature Reserve

If there's one experience you absolutely shouldn't miss this summer, it's our Exclusive kayak trip conducted in partnership with the Banc d’Arguin National Nature Reserve !

Imagine yourself gliding along the water, between the sand giant and the channel of the Arcachon Basin, guided by a cultural mediator of the Dune du Pilat and one nature warden of the Reserve. It is a privileged immersion into the heart of an exceptional ecosystem, punctuated by the ballet of seabirds and the wild beauty of the sandbanks.

Dual expertise: Throughout the 5-hour excursion, our two mediators will reveal the geological history of the Dune, the rich flora and fauna of the marine environment, as well as the challenges of preserving this protected nature reserve.
A convivial moment suspended outside of time: The trip includes a stop and a lunch break overlooking the landscapes of the Dune and the Banc d'Arguin
When ? Saturday, August 8, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. (Enjoy the golden light of the late afternoon!).
For whom? From age 10 (moderate physical level).

🌅 Sunrise and sunset hikes: the magic of summer light

To escape the heat and experience a moment of pure poetry on the sandy ridge, join us for our twilight or morning gatherings:

Sunrise hike: Witness the awakening of the basin in soothing silence. The morning freshness and the pink hues on the ocean and the forest offer an unforgettable spectacle.📅 Saturday August 15 & Tuesday August 18 from 6am to 8am.
Sunset walks: As the sun dips into the Atlantic, let us tell you about the formation of the Dune and the fragility of its fauna and flora.📅 Every Wednesday in August, as well as Mondays August 10 and 24.

🚶‍♂️ Combined hike: From the Dune to the Banc d'Arguin (on foot & by boat)

If you prefer walking while combining the discovery of the two major sites, this half-day guided hike takes you from the crest of the Dune to the Banc d'Arguin via a sea shuttle crossing.

📅 Tuesday, August 11, from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM (Ages 10 and up, good physical condition required. Sea crossing: €20/person.).

Throughout the month, also enjoy our regular and free activities:

Guided family walks: Every Sunday from 10am to 11:30am to learn all about the history, geology and biodiversity of the Dune.
The Welcomes Posted with Telescope: Directly on the crest of the dune, our mediators welcome you with state-of-the-art optical equipment to observe the birds, Cap Ferret, the forest and the sandbanks.
Independently with "Robin's Trails": Download our free game booklet to transform your family visit into a captivating treasure hunt (ages 6+).

Bring appropriate clothing (closed shoes or shoes suitable for walking on sand, sun protection, water bottle).

All mediation activities provided by the Syndicat Mixte de la Dune du Pilat are free of charge (excluding any costs of maritime transport or rental of specific equipment such as kayaks).
