Main gateway to the Grand Site, the reception area offers all the services and equipment allowing you to discover it in a comfortable and environmentally friendly way.

The Dune du Pilat is accessible all year round but many of you want to hike it in summer. For a more pleasant discovery, leave your vehicle aside and take the time to admire nature. On foot, by bike, by bus, there are many possibilities to come to the Dune!

If you still choose to come by car, the reception area has a tree-lined car park. By parking on the latter, you contribute to the preservation of the Grand Site (public management). Wild parking, along the road and in the forest is strictly prohibited.

ON THE DUNE RECEPTION SPACE, YOU WILL FIND:

The bathroom regularly cleaned.

The reception and information cabin, An essential resource for getting your bearings on the site. Kassy, Lou, and Clément will guide you in discovering the Dune as well as the natural treasures of the area. You'll find information about visiting the Grand Site, its surroundings, and all the educational activities (guided walks, children's workshops, etc.). For more information, call 05 56 22 12 85.

How was the Dune du Pilat formed? Why is she here and not elsewhere? Where does the sand come from? What impact did the fire have on the forest? The whole mediation team welcomes you and invites you to discover with them the history of the Dune and the forest, its biodiversity... Take part in one of our free activities. Temporary exhibitions are presented in the exhibition hut.

The stairs are installed from April to October. They give you easier access to the dune crest.

The cycle path and pedestrian paths, take you gently to the bike racks, the cabin village and then the path leading to the foot of the Dune. Connected lockers are available for you to drop off your personal belongings.

The parking lot is divided into several zones: P1, P2, P3, P4 (dedicated parking lots for buses, people with reduced mobility, etc.). In order to contribute to the maintenance and preservation of this fragile natural space, the car park is subject to charges (public management of the Grand Site).

For smokers, there is 3 zones tolerance in the host village. As a reminder, smoking is prohibited on the Dune du Pilat.

On-site catering and cultural shops. On site, you will find:

  • 3 restaurants : tasting of seafood (including oysters from the Arcachon Bay), tapas based on charcuterie and seafood; verrines and cocottes of French cuisine linked to the local culinary heritage; fresh, local or organic produce...
  • 3 takeaway shops : organic labeled bakery/sandwich products; organic ice cream products; hot or cold sandwiches with local products
  • 2 cultural shops: one dedicated to products from local crafts; the other to complementary offers.
