A collective responsibility, more relevant than ever
In view of the progression of the fires, the Prefect of Gironde has placed the department on black alert (level 5/5), the maximum level, due to an exceptional risk of forest fires.
Four years after the 2022 fires, the indelible scars remain.

Restrictions in effect during the black alert
Faced with this accumulated risk, several measures apply:
Absolute prohibition of all fires, including barbecues
No smoking, throwing cigarette butts or any incandescent debris in or near the forest. The Dune reception area is closed.
Access to the forest is strictly prohibited.
Prohibition on the use of thermal tools (brush cutters, grinders, etc.), burning green waste or flying lanterns/fireworks near forest areas.
Obligation for everyone to report any outbreak of fire At 18 or to 112 without delay.
