Strengthened partnerships with the Banc d'Arguin and GRAMASA

đŸ€ The Friday, June 19th, The Joint Syndicate of the Great Dune of Pilat has officially announced the signing of two new partnership agreements with the SEPANSO Aquitaine and the GRAMASA. The public institution is realizing and amplifying years of active cooperation on the ground with the two structures.

🌿 With SEPANSO Aquitaine, manager of the Banc d'Arguin National Nature Reserve: two inseparable spaces, a shared vision

The Dune du Pilat and the Banc d'Arguin National Nature Reserve share a close geological history and dynamics. Having collaborated for nearly 15 years, the Joint Syndicate and SEPANSO Aquitaine are renewing their partnership through key initiatives:

  • Knowledge sharing: Exchange of environmental data and cross-referencing of studies to optimize ecological monitoring and the management of two fragile natural areas; ;
  • Education & Awareness: Implementation of joint "two-voice" activities (like the walks from the Dune to the Banc d'Arguin using soft transport), Kayak trip, and focus on migration next October (nature activity); ;
  • Coordinated surveillance: Pooling of field teams (coastal wardens and Reserve wardens) to ensure compliance with regulations, secure quiet zones for birds and control harmful behavior.

⚓ With GRAMASA (Archaeological Research Group on the Atlantic Wall, Arcachon Sector): bringing the contemporary history of the Dune to life

The Atlantic Wall left significant traces on the Arcachon Basin. By structuring their relationship of more than 10 years with GRAMASA (Archaeological Research Group on the Atlantic Wall), the two organizations wish to shed light on this unsuspected historical, memorial, and biological history.

  • Historical and scientific appreciation: Integration of the association's expertise, archives and maps to enrich the natural heritage; ;
  • Training & Mediation: Specific sessions for the mediators of the Dune (particularly in the Gaillouneys and Corniche sectors) in order to transmit this memory to schoolchildren and visitors; ;
  • Unusual discoveries on site: Programming of captivating themed tours, such as the discovery of the Corniche bunkers or the animation «"The secrets of the sunken bunkers of Gaillouneys"», veritable reefs of marine biodiversity; ;
  • Cultural dissemination: GRAMASA publications are now being promoted and offered for sale in the Dune reception area (cultural shop).
