The reception area, established at the end of the 1980s in order to organize the arrival of the public on the Grand Site of the Dune du Pilat, is now having a "new look" in order to adapt the buildings and equipment, which are dilapidated. and weakened, to current practices and trends.
This site, at the foot of one of the most emblematic sites of New Aquitaine, is divided into four operations:
• the rehabilitation of the village of huts hosting shops and services for visitors to the Grand Site;
• improvement of the reception area in favor of eco-mobility through landscaping;
• the development of mediation and environmental awareness tools with the creation of a visit route;
• the establishment of an ephemeral reception village to ensure continuity of public service during the rehabilitation works.
The search for a point of balance between tourism and the environment has guided
the entire phase of preliminary studies and development of the project.
The use of endemic species, the precise choice of materials, the treatment of the soil
and the renaturation of certain areas guarantee perfect landscape integration
developments and preserve the personality of the Grand Site.
